FSC Just Loves To Be Feminine

For this month’s challenge  FSC says “Make It Feminine” which the lovely Avril picked as her theme.

This adorable little girl is just about my favourite stamp of all time.  She must be the most well used in my collection.

A very simple card from me today … oops I was just about to say … no mixed media in sight … which would be silly right because as we all know mixed media is a broad definition that covers many arts and crafts.

Started by making a frame with a Spellbinders die then embossed with a folder.

Stamped the I Love Paris onto some coloured cardstock and placed behind the frame.  To finish I layered the other stamps over the top.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

Ink Art Designs Etsy Shop is sponsoring FSC and they will be offering a stamp for the winner of each new challenge.

Go Wild At FSC

Today is a very emotional time for Andrew and myself as we are saying farewell to Dot.  She will be leaving us in Melbourne and heading off to her home town in Portland.

Tomorrow sees us flying off to Singapore for 4 days on the last leg of our month long holiday.

Words cannot describe the incredible time we have had but over the coming months I will be blogging photos and hopefully albums/scrapbook pages of our amazing time with Dot and Australia.

Thank you is not enough Dot but I am saying it anyway.  See you on our next skypeing session where we can really start reminiscing about our fabulous time together.

You are one very special lady.

Hopefully the next time we see each other will be in the UK!!!!

We are Going Wild for this month’s challenge at FSC,

Sandra picked the theme of Let’s Go Wild and wild is where I went.

These two remind me of some of the wild party scenes that I went to in my youth.

FSC has a new sponsor … yay our very own Dot … how amazing is that?  She will be offering a different stamp for the winner of each new challenge.

Ink Art Designs Etsy Shop

Ink Art Designs is an Australian based Etsy shop owned and run by Dot Leathbridge.

A wide range of stamps are available which include a mixture of clear polymer and rubber.

The Etsy shop was originally started in order to offer a wider range of stamps to Australians.  It has since grown to include a world-wide audience.

FSC is also welcoming a fabulous Guest Designer who is showcasing an amazing tag for this month’s theme, her name is Elisa from 2crazycrafters.

I would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.

FSC Time And Favourite Things

For this month’s challenge FSC wants to see Sound Of Music – My Favourite Things or Use Your Favourite Stamp which Leanne picked as her theme.

Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things

You can either pick something from the verse above or use your favourite stamp, I chose Whiskers on Kittens.

Had so much fun colouring the kitten with water colour pencils plus the background has been created using the same colours.

Had to take care with the colouring plus how much water was added as I actually did everything on the card front itself.  This was an achievement as the card wasn’t water coloured stock plus there was a risk of pitting if I added too much.

Very unusual for me but I have only used two stamps on my card.   The kitten is a discontinued one called ‘Sitting Pretty’ and the quote comes from a Stampers Anonymous set … Urban Tapestry.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Modes Of Transport At FSC

Not much been going on in my ‘Crafty Cranny’ simply because I have been MIA again (another short break to the UK).

That’s the holidays over for the time being, next break is AUSTRALIA.

FSC wants to see ‘Modes Of Transport’ for this month’s challenge which the lovely Dani picked as her theme.

It’s all about my stamp journal again, love the neat, crisp, clean look of these pages.  Getting to use loads of my stamps which have been gathering dust for tooooo long.  Only inks and stamps are used in this book … see first pages here.

For these pages I did a “before and after” starting with the horse then moving onto a motor vehicle before finishing with a van.

By the way the motor vehicle and the van set were both virgin stamps.  It’s OK, both wrists have been slapped, especially as I have had the PaperArtsy set for about five years and the car for two.

Reverse masked the horses then dappled with coloured spots.

Can you believe that the last time I used these Visible Image stamps was in April 2015 here just after I had bought them at Ally Pally.

Masked off the ‘AFTER’ and also the van then stamped over with a crackle stamp.

All stamps used for the journal pages, inks are a mixture of  Versafine and Memento.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Just A Number At FSC

FSC wants to see ‘It’s Just A Number’ for this months challenge which the lovely Brenda picked as her theme.

The smaller numbers on my card have been white embossed to make them stand out more on the painted and stencilled background.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Calling This One Mr Goofy Meets FSC

FSC is all about ‘Tis The Season’ this month which my uber-talented team mate Dot picked as the theme.

Dot explained that we could have either Autumn or Winter as our season … Autumn called to me.

Definitely time for those sun shades.

Let me tell you, I kid you not when I say that this pic is nowhere near as vibrant as the card actually looks, sorry about the glare.

goofy

Made the background with paints and a leaf stencil which was cut to size before placing onto the card.

Stamped Mr Goofy onto the background so that little elements of him fell onto the card.

Stamp used is from one of my new sets … I say sets because I bought heaps of these whilst home recently.

As you know I love to go to the The Craft Barn when home and sooooo lucky this time round that Chris Dark  was altering a gorgeous box so I booked in … hoping to put pics up later this week.

Quirky stamps are absolutely my thing … Stampotique are one of my all time faves … but I can see me falling in love with these PaperArtsy ones just as much.

Other stamps used are Studio 490 – Tales Of Art and An Eye For Art.

Would really love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Quick And Easy Scenic Card

FSC is all about TREES this month which the lovely Sandra picked as the theme.

Isn’t it strange that over the years the things that you used to do a lot of gets pushed to the back of your mind as you develop other tastes in crafting.

Making a scene with stamps and inks was something I so loved doing years back when I first started crafting but other things like paints, molding paste, crackle and messiness seem to have taken over.

So this is why I enjoyed making my little scene below, which was so quick and easy, enjoyed every minute of the making and revisiting some of the old techniques which I used to do.  This literally took minutes and yet it looks so very elegant and fresh.

Just shows what you can make with a 6 x 6 white card, three stamps and two colours of ink.

7

The embossing folder used was an Xcut 6 x 6 square frame, tree stamps are from Stampin Up and the little birdie … who knows it’s that old.  The little grass is also an old Art Impression wooden stamp.  You can find the cling mounted set here but I think the wooden set has been discontinued.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Contour Change A Page Book

FSC is all about Autumnal Colours this month which the lovely Esther picked as the theme.

I opted not to go for an Autumnal make but just to use the Autumn colours.

Ordered some really fab Seth Apter goodies before I went on my hols and they have been sitting on my desk crying out to be used.

The album below has been made with the Contour Change A Page Die.  What it does is cut out the pages to make an album of your choice.

For the front of the book I used a range of Autumnal colours and inside there are lots of die cut pages, in various types of cardstock, just waiting to be journalled.  Left the rings off to make it easier to take photos.

art-journal

Paint brushes stamps from Anna Griffin, raindrops  Designs By Ryn the quote from PaperArtsy,  and not forgetting Studio 490 Art Journal Basics.

All other background stamps are from Stampin Up called Timeless Textures.

A Tim Holtz stencil, Speckles was used with molding paste just to add a little texture here and there.

Black Versafine ink was used for some of the stamps and paint was used for the rest.

Entering into the Craft Stamper Challenge which is Anything Goes.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Embrace The Next Chapter In Your Life Amber

We had the most truly amazing news about our granddaughter Amber’s ‘A’ Level results on Thursday and how proud are we????

Amber

She got an amazing … 2 A*s and an A.  How super cool is that???  Couldn’t get any higher sweets – you are a star yourself.

One A* was in Art, no surprise there!!!!  An A* in Graphics Design, again no surprise there as she worked so hard to achieve this.

The real surprise came with an A in English which she worked her socks off for.

Grandma and Grandad are extremely delighted and happy for you sweetheart.

She’s off to Arts University Bournemouth in September and we wish her all the luck in the world in her newest adventure in life.

*****************************************************

Late for the FSC challenge this month because not long back from holiday with Andrew.  Went to Turkey and crafting was not even on the horizon.  So sorry girls.

FSC is resisting this month and it was the lovely Avril who picked the theme for this challenge.

Went for a very old technique where you use wax paper for the resist.  This technique is fabulous as it gives you an embossed effect but with none of the raised area, which means you can stamp without any problems.

Wax Resist

Ran the wax paper through the embossing folder first, then placed the wax paper onto a piece of A4 white card before ironing over the top.  Please put a silicone craft sheet over the paper before you put your heated iron on top.

You could always sandwich the wax paper between two sheets of cardstock (then iron over) this means you would have a negative and a positive of the embossed image.

This is how the A4 card looked after I blended DI’s picked raspberry, peacock feathers, spiced marmalade and mowed lawn over the top.

A4 Resist 1

The embossing folder used was an 8″ x 8″ so the ends of the A4 card had no resist wax on it.

When you get to this stage you can do anything with the cardstock … cut into quarters so you have enough to make 4 cards, die cut into tags or you can get at least 10 ATC’s from it.  Watch out for some lovely tags and ATC’s in the future, all using the above cardstock.

This is my card for the challenge, decided to use a different embossing folder for the background because I wanted to make an 8″ x 8″ card.  Also used different coloured DI’s.

A little bit steam punky and if you click on the image you will be able to see that the embossing folder used is full of clock faces.

Steam Punk

All stamps and inks used are from the Tim Holtz range, the white on the card is acrylic paint and the border of the card is machine stitched with black thread .

Here is another card which I made a few weeks ago and the background is done using the exact same technique, an embossing folder and wax paper.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.

Join FSC With Beautiful Blooms

FSC is into ‘Beautiful Blooms’ for this month’s challenge which the lovely Claire picked.  My card managed to meander into a very collaged vintage piece all on it’s own.

The beautiful stamped blooms are from a Studio 490 set called ‘Wildflower Art‘.  Fussy cut them before colouring and adding glossy accents.

If you look very closely you will see some torn tea bags on either side of the card which gives it a rather nice tatty feel.

4

I have Dot to thank for the reminder about tea bags.  She has just started into her tea bag phase which reminded me that I have a box full of dried out tea bags left over from my itty bitty Tea Bag Book  which was made a while back.  Gosh that was 18 months ago and it was also a DT piece for FSC.  Anyways these are now crying out to be used hence the shredded pieces added to the card.

Just one close up pic which shows some of the layered ephemera and stitching.

Sorry about the glare from the flower on the tag but that’s the camera picking up the shine from the glossy accents.
