Amber’s Unseen Canvas

Thoughts are looming in my mind about what direction my card is going to take for Amber’s 19th birthday.

Because of this I realised that no pics of the canvas I made for her 18th birthday last year were ever shown.  Sorry but for some reason I haven’t got a photo of the whole canvas only sections of it.

Not the best photos because whilst making her canvas I didn’t take any pics until she had seen it which left only my iPad to take them on the day.  It was an old iPad and didn’t take the best of pics but since then Andrew has bought me an iPad Air which takes far better photos.

Fell in love with the metal bird hanger but it was painted a boring white.  Amber would have hated it so alteration time with paints and stamps.

Canvas Relegated To The Unfinished Box

This canvas has been sitting in the corner of my desk for a few days.  Every now and again I will work on it, leave alone to work on something else then come back and have a look to see what else I can add, then off I trot again.

At the moment I feel there is nothing more I want to add … but … the bottom right hand corner of the canvas is definitely unfinished so until I can figure out what it needs to finalise she’s being relegated to the bench.

Leaving you with two more pics before I place it in the unfinished box.

It’s going into the unfinished box because I don’t want to rush and just put anything on it, then days down the line I will totally regret it.  As soon as I have a lightbulb moment you will see the finished canvas.  Until then this little piece is going away.

Some Pebeo Paints Now Hanging On My Wall

Bought some Pebeo products when Sheena was on C & C but like most of my new stash they languished in a box until I was in the mood to use them.

Before I went on holiday back in July I finished these two canvases and because hubby Andrew loved them so much they were hung on the wall.

2

Paints used were Pebeo Iridescent Green Yellow, Iridescent Blue Green and Iridescent Green Blue.

Also used a Pebeo Mixtion Relief, Metal Gold Leaf Flakes and Prisme Fantasy Turquoise.

3

They both hang side by side on a plain cream wall.

Two Very Different Canvases

Another make completed from the unfinished box … although there’s a long way to go until I get to see the bottom.
Before I show the completed piece here’s why it went into the unfinished pile.

To all intense and purposes the canvas was finished whilst on holiday in Cork with Crafty Friend but when I came home I felt something was missing.  At the time just totally in the dark as to what it was hence relegation to the:

“Get Around To It Someday Box”.

Since having a good ole rummage through the box I came across the canvas again and hey presto I knew immediately what was wrong with it.

No focal point to draw the eye.  Simple really!!!!  Just needed a fresh pair of peepers.

Both images lay embedded onto the canvas and nothing popped out at me.

That’s when I added a frame and some wording.  The frame was cut from a very old Spellbinders die.  Chalk paint used was Cosmic Shimmer Heritage Green and Cadet Blue.  Finished by hi-lighting with an Americana paint called French Vanilla then randomly used a script stamp.

Previously both images looked very flat on the page but by adding a frame around one and a bit of gesso sponging it made them both stand out in their own right.

Images from Pion design ‘Grandmas School Book‘.

This would look great in a child’s bedroom.

Showing the second make which didn’t get finished whilst in Cork, but I knew where it was going, so completed very quickly when I got home.

It has already been posted – below is a pick which if you click on will take you to the post in case you didn’t see it first time round.

Cork, Crafty Friend And Crafting

Finally finished … this canvas was started whilst away in Cork the other week with Crafty Friend.

We spent a whole day crafting which was amazing and I also managed to start another canvas which just needs a bit of tweaking before showing.

A few close ups of the collaged piece … which will soon be hanging in my craft room as I love it to bits.

A Look Of Haughty Disdain

In my previous post I made a canvas with a rust technique and just knew the girls would love to do this so in the class today we made a miniature version.

Lots of painty dimension was added to a 5″ x 7″ canvas plus they used a product which they have never used before … ‘Beeswax’.

1

All the images were stamped onto tissue paper before adding a wash of colour onto the back.

Now as you know, tissue paper when wet becomes very tricky to use and shreds rather easily.  Everything nearly went to pot but all was rectified in the end and each went home with a rather tasty looking canvas.

Father’s Day Wall Hanging

As I am off home soon and Father’s Day is fast approaching I have made this canvas board wall hanging for the grandchildren to give to their dad.

Before the canvas can be hung I need to source some sturdy wire but the eyelets are in place ready and waiting.

The edges have been given a makeover with the rust technique which Andy Skinner shows how to do on one of his youtube videos.  The three toffs have been stamped onto corrugated cardboard then covered with melted wax.

A wash of metallic silver paint was also added to the board which is something I very rarely use (if ever).

I wanted to try to hide the gentlemen in the corner with the binoculars so added a few layers of black paint, then a layer of melted wax before trying to scrape some away.  Very pleased with the result and think I achieved what I set out to do.

Flowered Canvas

Last Saturday’s class was all about finishing a canvas that we started a few weeks ago.

Needle, cotton and material were used to make the beautiful flower and the image is from G45, “A Ladies Diary”.   Lots of other elements were used on the canvas but nothing could escape the gesso, crackle medium or acrylic paint.

Join FSC With Blots And Splashes

FSC is having a Blots & Splashes theme for this month’s challenge and this canvas was made with loads of painty blots and splashes.

Crafty Skype buddy Dot is far more organised than me because she started her piece for FSC whilst on one of our Skype sessions and all I did was play around making roses with copy paper.  Ahhhh but the card I made with those roses is gorgeous.

Anyways onto my canvas where I have used another Indigo Blu beauty, she was bought at the same time as her Best Friend.

Used the Tim Holtz Wildflower dies to make the flowers plus I used the same paint to colour in.  Flicked white paint over the canvas and blotted away a lot of the excess.

Here you can see some close ups which shows more clearly the splashes which were achieved with the Tim Holtz stencil Splatters.

I would love it if you hopped on over to see all the DT’s work as they are simply stunning.  Also don’t forget that the winner of this challenge has $20 to choose anything they like from Flonz’s store.
